Desert camp at the edge of Kaluts, Sparkling night skies. Midday Temperatures can rise to almost unimaginble 65ºC in summer (Gandom Beriyan, 40Km north, has the world’s highest recorded surface temperature - over 70ºC).

It has been created in a layer of sand and due to the existence of marl layers, silt and lime and their dissolving erosion in holes, several beautiful ruts have been created. Since the floor of the canyon is the place on which water flows after each time raining, the locals have graved well (Chah in Persian) on it to make use of water, so the name “Chahkooh’ which means “Mount Well” has accordingly been chosen for it.

This is a Harbour seal pup. They reach a max length of 5’6” and males weight of 250lb and females 200lb. The coat is mottled and varies in colour from white to tan to dark brown to red. They have a varied diet of fish, crustaceans and squid. Pups are born on rocky ledges and remain with their mothers for a month, they can swim within hours of birth
